Act I I retell these events in all exactness according to my memory so that none shall follow in my footsteps. It has been one year since the murder of my dear Henry Clerval. One year since the event that sparked my catastrophe. If only those vile brutes had not stolen the life of my innocent Clerval, then maybe my fate would not be what it is now. After the assassination of the overseer of New Vegas, chaos spread over the city. My father, the founder of Frankenstein Cybernetics, was one of the targets of the riots and mobs in an attempt to bring down the powerful and wealthy families of Vegas. As my father, Clerval, our family friends, and I resided in the Frankenstein Tower, we were quickly surrounded by an army of violent revolutionaries threatening to set the tower ablaze. Clerval and I, who had been residing within the tower for safety, realized we must make an attempt at escape. We lept out of a window, landing in an empty alley below the tower, and began to run toward safety. Then, I heard three shots ring through the alley. I turned and watched as Clerval collapsed. Rioters began to flood the alley behind him. In a split second, I flung him over my shoulder, sprinting away from the tower into the tunnels underneath the city. After an hour or so, I had undoubtedly outrun the insurrectionists. I set Clerval down for the first time since fleeing the tower; at that moment, I realized he was gone. Two bullets had struck his face, and one hit his chest; my precious Henry Clerval had been disfigured and murdered over such senseless violence. I fell to my knees, screaming and crying in pure anguish, unsure of how I could ever recover from the loss of my only true friend. For 22 years, we were inseparable; he was raised in my household since I was a newborn. Clerval was the loveliest friend one could have; I could never be whole since his death. One week later, he was buried, and It was determined safe to return to the tower. For nine months, I couldn’t sleep; nothing felt real anymore. My passion that once burned like a great wildfire had diminished to dead coals. I rotted in the tower like a zombie, pursuing nothing, contributing to nothing. I gave up on my studies and dreams of saving humanity by advancing cybernetics and A.I. technologies. For nine months, I sat atop that tower and watched the city burn and rebuild itself. How ironic that the city’s fate was its undoing. The people wished to escape the previous tyranny, so they chose violence to restore their new order. In an attempt to rekindle its flame, its people destroyed New Vegas. My body grew weak, limiting my motion to simple tasks and resembling a mere shadow of my former self. After months of emptiness, an idea hit me: a way to return my dear Clerval to me.
